First welding robot started up on Siver factory

In the begging of 2010 Siver company has started a robot-welding cell: the robot of German company KUKA with welding system ELMATECH – while it welds the elements of the pulling tower for pulling system Siver E. To understand the necessity of the welding robot for the factory just compare the process of manufacturing of one single product. Before, the elements of the pulling tower have been welding approximately for 2 h. 40 min. by a welder and assistant. They used makeshift means of mechanization of auxiliary operations; the process was physically labor-consuming itself; the welding conditions varied and as a result welding seams came out not ideal every time.
Present time. 14 elements of the workpiece being fixed in the conductor – it takes no more than 15 minutes. The conductor corresponds to industrial equipment fixed on the positioner. The positioner poses the additional axis of the industrial robot, separate rotating mechanism. Several words about positioner – also produced by KUKA as the robot, the positioner has a unique accuracy, it was delivered from KUKA factory already assembled, the length of the design – 4004 mm.  And then, after all elements are fastened in the conductor, the robot welds them all for 16 minutes of 47 seconds. Quality of seams is constant and excellent, and total time spent for this operation takes 30 minutes.
One of the main advantages of using the robots is following: on the memory of the welding robot can be recorded a huge quantity of welding programs allowing to completely automate welding process of the whole manufacture. On the next month is planed to start one more positioner for the same robot.
